A Comprehensive Upgrade
Collaborating with Barletta Heavy Division in revitalizing the entire Wellington train yard.
Fischbach & Moore was responsible for a multitude of components:
- Installation of two new DC Circuit Breaker Houses (CBH) and two Central Instrument Houses (CIH), alongside a new AC load center, enhancing operational efficiency
- Comprehensive installation of underground and above-ground utilities, including 1m and 2m feeder cables, to bolster functionality
- Implementation of new traction power switches, facilitating smoother operations and improved connectivity
- Replacement of the entire signaling system, involving the installation of raceway systems and cables to support new signals, track circuits, Wee-Z bonds, switch and third rail heater cases, and new heating elements
- Refurbishment of an existing electric room, featuring the installation of new disconnects, transformers, and panels, ensuring reliability
- Integration of a new security system, fire alarm systems, closed-circuit TVs, wayside telephones, and a new fiber optic cable system, enhancing overall security and communication
- Complete overhaul of the exterior lighting system, including the replacement of three 80-foot high mast lighting poles, illuminating the yard for enhanced visibility and safety
This work reshapes Wellington Yard to meet the demands of modern transportation, setting a new standard for efficiency and reliability.
