Transforming Hudson’s Power Grid for a Stronger, Safer Future
As a Prime Contractor, Fischbach & Moore is responsible for the upgrade and expansion of the Forest Avenue Substation in Hudson, Massachusetts. The goal of this ambitious project is to transform the existing three-circuit breaker, two-bus radial substation into a six-position, 115 kV ring bus capable of accepting a new transmission line, which serves as a critical element of the Eversource Sudbury to Hudson Transmission Reliability Project.
Construction spans three phases over the course of one year and involves significant above- and below-grade work, all while operating within the live environment of energized 13.8 kV and 115 kV overhead lines.
- Phase One: Connecting a new underground 115 kV circuit into the substation.
- Phase Two: Relocating the existing H-160 line to the west side of the substation with the addition of a new aluminum bus, one 115 kV breaker, three 115 kV switches, and three CCVTs.
- Phase Three: Repositioning the existing N-166 line to the south end of the substation with the installation of a new aluminum bus, one 115 kV switch, and three CCVTs.
We are proud to play a role in strengthening Hudson Light & Power’s grid to deliver safer, more reliable energy for the community.
